Santo Antônio de Jesus comemorou 126 anos

Destaque do Recôncavo baiano, a cidade das Palmeiras e pólo comercial da região, Santo Antônio de Jesus, também conhecida como a cidade que possui o Comércio Mais Barato da Bahia, completou no dia 29 de maio 126 anos de emancipação política. Uma programação comemorativa do aniversário marcou as festividades na cidade, com o hasteamento de bandeiras, no Paço Municipal, seguida do desfile cívico na Avenida Prudente de Morais. Este ano, o jogador de futebol Júnior, do São Paulo, recebeu homenagem especial. Ele foi representado no desfile cívico por familiares, que saíram no primeiro carro alegórico.

            O município é administrado pelo prefeito Euvaldo Rosa, que passou em revista às tropas do Tiro de Guerra, do 14º Batalhão de Polícia Militar, Polícia Civil e Rodoviária Estadual. Participaram do desfile alunos das escolas públicas, entidades e instituições da cidade, além das secretarias municipais. Todos abordaram o aspecto econômico e a história de Santo Antônio de Jesus.                           Entre muitas ações, a construção de duas passarelas é uma das mais importantes, que beneficiará os moradores dos bairros Santa Madalena e Alto Santo Antônio. Além disso, este ano a comunidade estudantil participa do primeiro vestibular da Universidade Federal do Recôncavo Baiano (UFRB), com um campus em Santo Antônio de Jesus e cursos nas áreas de enfermagem, nutrição e psicologia. Uma conquista e uma luta de várias entidades, como a Associação Comercial e Industrial (ACISAJ).

            Por causa da sua localização privilegiada, às margens da BR-101, o município vem se constituindo, nos últimos 20 anos, em uma importante região de comércio no ramo automobilístico, com estabelecimentos como concessionárias, revendedoras de autopeças, oficinas mecânicas e reformadoras de pneus; moveleiro e de material de construção, que chega a atender cerca de 200 cidades do Estado.

 

COMÉRCIO CONSOLIDADO – Na área de influência do município está uma população estimada em 6,5 milhões de habitantes, num raio de 200 km, que é o principal sustentáculo da economia regional através de sua diversificação na agricultura, pecuária, indústria, serviços e no comércio, um dos mais desenvolvidos do interior do Estado.

            Santo Antônio de Jesus é considerado um dos maiores centros econômicos do Recôncavo baiano. Nos últimos anos, o município despontou como um dos que mais atrai novos investidores. A cidade possui mais de 2,5 mil empresas em funcionamento. Os setores de comércio e serviços atendem a mais de 1,5 milhão de pessoas.

            A Lei Provincial 1.952 de 29 de maio de 1880 elevou a Paróquia de Santo Antônio de Jesus à categoria de vila e município. O município está localizado na microrregião do Recôncavo, numa área de 334 km2, com seu patrimônio cultural representado pelas festas religiosas e populares. A mais importante é a do padroeiro da cidade, Santo Antônio, comemorado em 13 de junho. Santo Antônio de Jesus é pólo de 40 cidades, em um raio de 150 quilômetros. Sua população é estimada em 84 mil habitantes.
